Before everything else, you must take the time to develop your inner clown. You must develop your own unique idenitification and your own way of connecting with your audience. Find a unique personality inside you that will set apart your alter ego from every other clown out there. This will give you a distinctive flair to your act. Once you can put a smile on people's faces, then you're definitely on the right track. Just remember that the traits you choose now will determine what type of makeup you'll perform in, as well as what costume you will be wearing.

What's In A Name?

Before you start performing, you might want to think of a name for your character. It must suit your personality, your persona and your character traits. And of course, it must be something that both adults and kids can easily remember. Some individuals choose a clown name based on nicknames they’ve been given throughout the years. If you just can’t seem to come up with a clown name, don’t worry. You can always use your real name, especially if it seems to have a good ring to it. When you do choose a name, you must always remember to actually respond to it while you're in character.
